LOUISIANA-Rapids Parrish-Oct.,15,1980 / Nearest town Tioga / Nearest road Hwy 71/ Witness said that when he was
about 11 or 12 years old he was awakened by something at his bedroom window. Waking up, looking around, he saw
a huge shadow pass by the window. He said the shadow was at least 8 feet tall. They had an outside street light and
that is what cast the shadow. Running to his back porch to get a better look he saw by his back porch light a creature
that weighed about 300 to 500 pounds. It was about 8 feet tall and built he said like a line backer. It had a conical
shaped head that sat on its shoulders and was leaning forward.The body was covered in black shaggy hair. The arms
had a pronounced swing. He saw the creature for about 3 or 4 seconds as it crossed the back yard, stepped over a 4
1/2 foot chain link fence. He told his father what he saw but was told to forget about it. His property, which was 6 acres,
backed up to Rogully Swamp with Flaggon Swamp also close by. Their house set an acre back off the road. Woods
and creeks and swamps. The location is about a mile from Kissatchie National Forest.
1982-MADISON COUNTY-North Carolina- Wooded and mountains./ Witness said he went deer hunting with a friend of
his,riding in friends pick-up truck./ He said they were in a very thick old growth Forest in the mountains. They parked at
the end of an old red clay logging road overlooking a clear cut area. They split up about 3 Pm, going in different
directions. It was drizzling rain off and on and the sky was overcast./ The time of year was late fall./ He said he hiked
several miles from the truck, mostly scouting the area as this was new country to him. He said he was armed with a 308
cal. rifle./ Didn't see any game./ There were lots of deer sign and strangely no squirrels,no birds or anything./ Starting
to get late he decided to get back to the truck and his friend./ He said he felt nervous in the woods, which was unusual
as he was a hunter and fisherman./ Walking through a semi open area where there had been an old homestead many
years ago, he felt the hair rise on his neck and felt like he was being watched./ Looking around he didn't see anything./
Immediately he started climbing up the ridge away from the area' headed back towards the truck. That's when he
started hearing noises behind him in the brush./ It seemed to stop when he did./ He started calling out but got no
response./ He was getting creeped out; what ever was following him was breaking branches and seemed to be big and
heavy./ He hollered several more times for his friend but didn't get an answer. Getting to the road it was almost dark
and the fog had started to settle in./ He said he could still here what ever it was still following him as he started to run
to the truck. Getting there he found his friend hadn't returned./ That's when a good size rock came and hit the road
close to the truck. This thing was circling the truck and the witness really scared now, shot the rifle up into the air. The
truck was locked./ That's when the howling started and having enough he broke the side wing glass and got into the
truck to wait on his friend who took a couple more hours to get there./ He said he'd gotten lost./ He knew that the
witness was scared and up-set. He said that back in the 20's and 30's his grandmother said that the men folk would
walk their women folk home from church carrying a rifle for protection because of "The Monkey Man"./ The witness told
the story to people but quit when all he got was being laughed at. He said that it was the scariest thing that ever
happened to him.
Collier County-1987/ 5 miles to Lake Trafford./ Nearest town Immokalee./ Witness said she lived in an orange grove./
They had been fishing during day and returning home she and husband and brother ,11 years old, were still up, her
children asleep./ Heard dog barking, sounded very scared./ Husband went to check saw big shadow on shed./ He ran
back inside to get his gun as he thought it was a bear./ The dog sounded as if it was being muffled./ Going back out
side,including witness and her brother saw something running down driveway./ Husband shot into woods./ Heard a
terrible growl then deathly quiet./ She said it made the hair stand up on her neck,said she would never forget the
feeling./ Next day they found weird looking footprints,knew it wasn't a bear, looked human/ What ever it was jumped
from street across the canal and landed on its feet./ There were other reports of something strange in area./ People
who lived in house before them had their back door tore slap off./ They thought at the time it was a break in by robbers.
BROWARD COUNTY-Coral Springs/Year1985/ Near Wiles Road./ This happened before the Saw grass Expressway
was built./ The witness said that there was bad fires at this time that was set by a fire bug. /The Everglades burned
for weeks./ Wild animals were moving closer to their neighbor hood./ The witness and his two friends would use their
skateboards checking out the fires and rode around cutting through yards and between houses on their way home.
The Police were out this evening because of a prowler being reported and the Police stopped and checked them out./
They were let go and they went to their tent, the three of them being kids weren't ready to sleep but were horsing
around when they noticed sounds coming from across the canal abt.100 yards away./ Something was slamming the
dumpster lid making low grunts./ They got real quiet trying to figure out who could be messing with the tall
dumpster.Thought maybe a cow got loose and was bumping it./ One of the friends turned on his flashlight and started
making shadow puppets with his ET stuffed animal./The thing took notice to the kids then and they got real quiet
thinking maybe this was who the law was looking for./The steps moved closer, then they heard a splash./ what ever it
was headed straight for them./ Running into the house the father of friend got his shot gun and turned on his flood
lights./ The tent they were in had been demolished and covered in water./ Witness said he felt like he was being
watched from the darkness./ The next day they found that the tent had been moved from its former position./ The
witness said he felt if they had stayed in the tent that the story would be much different. He said he is 35 years old
now and hasn't ever forgotten that night.
COLLIER COUNTY-1979-80./Naples./ Afternoon./ Witness and his brother and a friend went exploring into the woods
from where they lived./ Found big metal cage 6' 6' and 8 feet long./ There was fresh meat in the enclosure when he
tugged on meat,door to cage shut./ Heard roar ,they ran for home./ Mother wanted to return to area but witness
didn't./ He said that a large limb was thrown at them as they ran away.
1985-BAY COUNTY-Witness on trip to Mexico Beach,Fl.saw a creature run across in front of their car.This was before
stop sign for Highway 98. Witness grew up in Sowega Georgia. Family always knew the creatures were there. Saw many
tree limb structures in the woods. Heard many howls at night, family once thought it might have been a panther.
1982-83-LEE COUNTY-St.RD>82 15 miles east of Fort Myers./ Lehigh Acres/ Witness and friend traveled several miles
back in swamp area to some high ground to make camp./ Know all the sounds of native wildlife,this was a sound that
neither heard before and hope they don't hear again. They had just gotten a fire going and was settling in for the night
when they heard a deep scream coming out of the swamp. It was long drawn out and seemed to echo back through the
swamp. Even the bugs got quiet. Bill looked at witness and asked"What was that"? Witness answered by "I don't know
but I'm going home. The witness was around 9 years old then and still remembers it well though he was 44 when he
reported the sighting.The witness still lives in the area of Lee County and Hendry County line.
1983-LEE COUNTY- Riverdale,Fl.- North of highway 31/ Witness lived on a 100 acres that butted up to Cecil Webb(A
Game Reserve of apprx.15,000 acres,in Charlotte County,Fl./She and friend were night time horse back riding down a
dirt road that witness lived off of./ There were large ditches on both sides of road which was about 10 miles long.
There were woods and cattle pastures on both sides.They were both 15 and were talking she said as young girls do
when their horses started spooking. She then noticed something walking along side of them in the woods on the other
side of the ditch. Could only hear it as there was only a half moon and was a cloudy night. Thought at first probably a
cow. Though this would be odd as cattle usually move away from you when you get close./ What ever it was had no
problem staying with them through the palmettos and trees./ They picked up the horses pace and it still kept up with
them./ A cross section of fence was coming up and thought it would have to stop but it didn't even slow down by then
they let out screams and started at a full run home. It only stopped when they came to open land next to witnesses
home. Never went horseback riding after dark again.
1985-ALACHUA COUNTY-Alachua ,Fl.- Lived in country with thousands of wild acres around witnesses five acres. Saw
a creature one morning as witness was walking on road in front of home. Saw a creature cross the road about 250
yards ahead. Witness said that that as a psychologist with a specialty in ready body language would know human
movement. Thought it moved more ape like and stood at least 6 foot tall covered in green Vegetation. It was a clear
morning.
1981-LEVY COUNTY- Yankeetown, near Crystal River,Fl.- Two brothers hear howl while trail blazing. Thought they
heard an answering howl some distance off.
1984-PASCO COUNTY- June-/No Town named/ Open field heard creature . Going to see what it was that made sound
saw 8 foot tall creature run off into swamp.The group who all had guns decided to leave and not follow the creature
into swamp.
1986,Nov.-UNION COUNTY-Bowhunter describes possible tracks, sounds and scatt, near Lake Butler Fl. Sitting in
ground blind he heard a noise that witness thought was hogs. He arose from ground blind and walked to bog to check
out signs. Saw barefoot print that set deeper then his 6'4" frame, with a weight of 275.
1988-GILCHRIST COUNTY- Near Fanning Springs and Perry,Fl. Headed for Gainsville. It was night time and witness
said he was on route 26 going around bend in road he saw another car coming at him flashing its lights. Continuing on
his lights hit upon a creature standing on edge of road. The creature seemed black, glistening, well kept, not wet.
Slowing down it turned and disappeared into swampy area.
1984-MANATEE COUNTY-Late evening sighting by 9 year old camper near River Basin.
1980's HOLMES COUNTY- Motorist has morning sighting near Sweet Gum Head.
1985-LAKE COUNTY- Between Lake Tavares and Lake Jem./ After working night shift witness on way home saw a huge
black creature run across the road. Mentioning to husband he blew it off. After moving to another area talking to a
friend they said that it was probably a Skunk Ape
1980-81-LAKE COUNTY- Lady Lake,Fl.-Staying with grandparents close to Griffin Chain of Lakes./ Witness stayed in
front bedroom by herself. There was a noise outside window but witness said that she was to scared to look. / Was
10-11 at the time. / There was many sounds snorting, footsteps, growling, laid awake for hours./ The noise lasted 5 to
10 minutes. / The next day where she and her brother had piled up sand in driveway there was a big human footprint
that measured 17 inches long and 8 inches wide. This was close to sawmill and forest.
BAY COUNTY-Mexico Beach Florida-1985-HWy 98./ Witness lives in Georgia said she and her family have always
known about the creatures./ Have heard them in the woods where she grew up near the Flint River area. She said
that about 1 or 2 Am in the morning traveling down Hwy 98 about a block from intersection of County Road 386,
heading for Mexico Beach witness saw an animal on the side of the road that jumped straight up and ran across the
road right in front of the car. It disapeared in the woods. The creature was about 5 to 6 feet tall,running on two legs./
It had stringy long dark hair with what seemed like red highlights. The length was 6 to 8 inches long and very uniform./
She doesn't recall animals face. She said she would have hit it if she'd been traveling any faster.
GEORGIA-(NOTE)-I thought this was interesting,it made me smile: JONES COUNTY GEORGIA-(August 1889,published
in the Lafayette Advertiser,Lafayette Louisiana:) It was in the "Oaky Woods" of Georgia in Jones County,that animals
seem to have the intelligence of man. One of the largest planters,Mr.J.K.Beal making his rounds noticed that in one of
his fields that bordered the Pocasin Swamp,the best rails from his fence were missing. The old decayed rails still set in
place. The planter thought that the Negro's were taking them but couldn't find a clue to the thieves. Then his hogs
started disappearing until he had none left.Then in the same field that the rails were missing his corn field began to
suffer. Bushels of roasting ears began to disappear. He did find tracks that looked like a huge bear had made leaving
the field. A party of men were put together to hunt the bear.Traveling through the Pocasin Swamp which interspersed
with dry hammocks, they traveled through mire and ooze,on through shaded islands and back again into the swampy
ground. At last they reached a large hammock rising almost like a hill from the swamp. There high and dry they found
to their astonishment a great pen,large as a house. The pen was made with the planters rails. Within the pen was the
remains of his roasting ears and his hogs.The hunting party were amazed and sat down to try an unravel the mystery.
There was only one Solution the bear had stolen the fence rails,hogs and corn selecting the best shoats was fattening
them up for winter.The hogs were recovered ,taken to Albany and sold for seven to eight dollars each to a local
butcher. It was said the butchers customers were so delighted with the sweetness of the port and its juicy richness that
they clamored for more,but fattened hogs by bears on roasting ears were an uncommon commodity and the meat
couldn't be duplicated. On the Fourth of July,while Mr.H.H.Savage was spending the day hunting he killed in the Pocain
Swamp a bear which turned the scales at exactly 481 pounds. It is thought this was the bear that tried its paw so
skilfully in the business of raising hogs for meat. (Published in the Atlanta Constitution in 1889.)
GEORGA-TROUPE COUNTY- LaGrange-1988-89 / Witness said he took his dog,a female rottweiler,out that night
because she needed to be walked. He said he was coaxing her to hurry as it was raining. / She then started to growl
and the witness started talking to her asking what was wrong. She went to sniffing the ground then started growling
again. The hair stood up on back of the witnesses neck as the dog started acting scared and pulling on leash wanting
to go inside. This was very unusual. That's when he heard a terrifying sound that was low and a guttural growl that went
to a high pitch scream. He decided to follow her lead and they hurried into the house./ After entering he went to his
glass sliding doors and opened them to listen, as he sat there he heard the sound about every five minutes as it got
further away. The witness said he heard peacocks and mountain lions and this sound was not anything like that or
anything that he had heard before./ Several nights later his sister was out side and she heard off in the distance the
same type of sound.
