Diana Stocking"A Skunk Ape Researcher in Florida said she talked to Barksai, gentleman who brought the Markka Skunk Ape pictures to our attention,The Sheriffs Department several times, also the US Postal Service. She believes after investigating the Myakka incident was a hoax. She also told me that they never found out who perpetrated it. There were three veteran Sasquatch investigators in Florida who investigated and determined that the Myakka Photos was a masked individual in a baggy leg costume and deemed it a hoax. The story goes on to say there are no fossil of Apes in Florida. Apes are quadrupeds while Bigfoot, AKA, Sasquatch or the Skunk Ape are biped, classifying it a homin not pongid. Even if it were an escaped ape from a facility or circus managing to live in Florida's fruitless Everglades (NOTE-Florida has many farms of vegetables and fruit trees all over the state, not of course in the middle of the Everglades,) they are not related to Florida's hominid ,upright walking hairy creature. This was reported in April 2005 If you would like to read news articles and also this one in its entirety go to Bigfoot Encounters where you will find the complete story.

HIGHLANDS COUNTY-2006/ Lake Placid,Fl./ Follow-up on story./ Winter/ Three witnesses oldest 16 with his 14 year old brother and younger sister; The nearest road was Washington Ave which travels from Placid view(On the lake and travels to the main road in Placid Lakes. The area is wooded with homes scattered through the area on lots of subdivision roads. Placid View is more populated near main road. I live a mile or so from the area so I went to check it out . Not knowing what road the witnesses were on I just meandered through the area. Took some photos. There are several creeks /canals and a big orange grove at one end that travels back behind my home. Many trails cutting through the pine woods. Very sandy Terrain. The main witness said he had just turned on to a trail and saw a figure about 40 yards ahead in the middle of the trail. Traveling closer he saw that what he thought was another ATV rider was a creature covered in black/brown hair. It was standing with its body traveling across the trail but had its head turned towards them as they came up on it. It looked to be 7 feet tall and very massive, not skinny. The skin/hair of the face was the same color as the hair on body. It looked more mannish then ape. Witness said he was wearing helmet and didn't smell anything. Footprints were not very good.(AS you can see in picture 2, tracks just sink in the sand and lose definition. I couldn't tell what made those tracks, a child or an animal.) It was a very clear day about 1 or 2 PM. As the creature moved away from them it had a slightly hunched gait with arms hanging down, not pumping. The area is sand, pine and thick brush. Possible for creature to travel through woods, if it avoided houses, it could travel out of area into orange groves or out of area that becomes ranch land without being seen.

Top picture is just off of Washington, shows some of how the area looks. Picture 2 shows trails used by ATV's and dune buggies. Picture of Washington Ave street sign. Last pictures are of one of the near by lakes.

This is a picture of Mrs.Billy Crain. Billy Crain, the song writer and singer who wrote and produced and sang the country record about the Bardin Booger. Mrs. Crane wrote a song herself about a Christmas Booger. She made a costume of the Booger(That's her in the picture on the left in her "Booger" costume.) she dressed up in the outfit and entertained at childrens birthday parties. The Booger is a big part of the area. Some of the lyrics of the Bardin Booger song By Billy Crain it sold all over the world. "Hey Mr.Booger, Bardin is your home and every day you love to roam." You run through the bushes and you run through the trees. Hey Mr.Bardin Booger, don't get me, please.
Reporters hunt down Monster-Tampa Tribune,Sunday Jan.1,1995 written by Leland Hawes. Chase 9-foot"Thing into woods near Brooksville. Monsters grab the imagination and they seize newspaper reporters periodically with uncontrollable urges to write stories that will capture readers. TheTribune and its now departed sidekick The Tampa Times have some memorable Monster stories. Remember the "Abominable Palmetto Man" that had the Hernando County country side ringing with gunfire in the summer of 1995? And adventurous team Bob Fellows and Harry Robarts wrote of the strange happenings in the woods, they were convinced they were onto something real. It started this way. A 9-foot tall "Thing" startled a group of Tampa residents who were camping out on a fishing trip near Garrison Lake, southeast of Brooksville in late June. They came back with a story that this "Thing" had a glowing face with a bony structure. It supposedly bounded along with huge strides. The fishing crew, men and women, packed and left with all due haste." Fellows wrote. On the fourth of July, 18 friends returned to the scene-one of them sworn to "Whap it" if he spotted the "Palmetto Man". After the crowd settled down for the night the glowing apparition reappeared this time coming within 15 feet of them. It was described as wearing some sort of asbestos garment. But it disappeared by the time several men scrambled for their guns. Later that week Fellows and Robarts decided to check out the reports firsthand. They believed because earlier a witness had taken a lie detector test. He seemed to be telling the truth. But all the reporters saw was moonlight on their safari into the Brooksville woods. They even took along four members of the vice squad and two hound dogs.To add to the mystery an artist who had property in the area reported seeing human footprints 18 inches long. Robarts now retired said "Bob and I went up into the woods several times. We got eaten up with mosquitoes" In addition sleep in the woods was almost impossible because of the constant firing of guns. People were shooting at everything they saw glinting in the woods. After their second expedition they stopped off for breakfast on a Sunday morning in Masaryktown . They were telling the waitress how the gunfire was getting dangerous and that somebody was going to get hurt. The waitress knew the inside story of the monster and she decided to tell them. The reporters went to the creator of the creature, a Tampa homemaker was simply trying to scare her brother-in-law on a camping trip. Peggy Thomas fessed up and related how she had put together the monster with a cow skull, a flashlight and a bed sheet and black moss. It was pulled along by a rope strung between two trees. It began as a family joke and just got out of hand. To add to the confusion the man who took the lie detector test was the only one not in on the stunt. Robarts remembered the way the rope was knotted made the contrivance appear to jump forward at intervals when pulled along
