| RESEARCHERS Of The Florida SKUNK APE |
| 1971-Gordon R. Prescott-English teacher with a minor in anthropology the president of the Yeti Research Society in 1974 wrote a letter to Dr.Earl Frye,Commissioner of the Florida Fish and Game Commission. He said that about 1971,he and a group of others were searching for Indian Mound in the Charlotte Harbor area for the remains of a Spanish settlement, which he claimed they found, when they saw a creature walk into their campsite and watched them for about 2 minutes. When they finally noticed him,he was under their direct observation for a minute or so,until he turned and walked away into what he called the jungle. None of the group had ever seen anything like that before, claimed that they were amazed. The creature was about 7 to 8 feet tall ,gorilla-like ,standing erect, with a peculiarly humanist face. It had long dangling arms that reached to its knees, and a body completely covered on hair except for its face and palms of his hands. The hair was somewhat shaggy and brownish grey in color. Upon trying to track him they saw fresh footprints in swampy ground. The footprints were five toed and looked human they measured 17 inches in length and about 5 inches wide. There was no arch. It looked as though the creature was flat footed. Also it had a peculiar odor,an earthy, goat like pungent odor that clung to everything he touched. Mr Prescott claimed they lost his track in an impenetrable jungle. He said that is when they formed the"YETI RESEARCH SOCIETY" to investigate the phenomenon further. They searched out reports and found that it had been spotted east of Mississippi and almost every neighboring state over the past century or more including from the Seminole Indians who were very reluctant to talk about the subject. Former members were Ramona Clark, Duane Hibner and Mr and Mrs. George Kelly of Brooksville Florida. Some of the researchers back in the 1970's |
