DuPuis Reserve, J. W. Corbett
Wildlife Management Area is
located in Northwestern Palm
Beach County and
Southwestern Martin County. It
is made up of 21,875 acres.
Close to Indiantown and not far
from Okeechobee Lake.














kissimmee Prairie Preserve
State Park,one of the largest
stretches of Florida dry
prairies.Located in Okeechobee
County,25 miles north of
Okeechobee.
Its a five mile road that leads
into entrance off main road.
Camping is surrounded by
54,000 acres with 6000 acres
converted to improved pasture
where cattle still graze. The first
cattle brought to Florida by the
Spaniards in 1500's. When they
left they left cattle. They were
later known as the longhorns
because of the length of their
horns. The native Americans
were and still are great cattle
men.
There are many things to do.
Because it is so far away from
natural settlements it is one of
the great places to view the
night sky and to see the
different stars

Highlands Hammock State Park
9,000 acres,opened in 1931,4
years before the Florida State
Park system was created.
Located in Highlands County a
few miles from Sebring.It has
camping,hiking,hose trails etc..
I've walked the road,cars
travel, that travels through
park with the different paths to
travel by foot. Picture is one of
many different areas to walk
through, this one is of
boardwalk over
swamp.Highlands county is
next to Okeechobee County in
Central Florida.







Hillsborough County is home
to Hillsborough River State
Park. One of the original Parks
built in 1936 has 3,950 acres.
The Fort Foster replica is
there representing the second
Seminloe war which was in
1830. The park is 9 miles
north of Tampa and 6 miles
south of Zepherhills

as "The Amazon of
North America".
Also in the area is
Piscayne Strand State
Park.
