1974- 1975- There were letters by the Bigfoot Research Society ,that tell of a second field expedition looking for the
Skunk Ape./ They wanted to know from Fish and Wild Life about tranquilization, what were the laws on its use and
could it be used on a animal like the Skunk Ape. A Mr. Spinks wrote several letters to the Commission only to find out
that the Skunk Ape wasn't a proven animal but if it were that it would probably fall under endangered species and it
would be against the law to harm or molest it in any way. If it turned out to be real and if it had human connections then
it would be protected like every other human.
Alachua County- Gainsville,Fl./ Report of a Skunk Ape being hit by car. / Witness said it ran off.
MARTIN COUNTY Okeechobee,Fl./ March6, Mrs. Humphrey and her son collied with what they said was a Skunk Ape
when it ran across the road in front of her car. / It did a lot of damage to their car but the creature ran off. Said it was 7
-8 foot tall.(This was reported also by Ramona Clark )
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY- Florida Turnpike / A woman thought she hit a Skunk Ape crossing the road. / It was huge, hairy
and it was a bipedal creature loping across the road. / An investigation found nothing.
BROWARD COUNTY-Ft. Lauderdale- June 1975 / Distance was one block. Creature had dark hair with long arms./
Walked very fast using whole body as it crossed the road./ Witness said it was bigger then her Ford Pinto
Stationwagon./ There were 2 witnesses in the front seat./ There were two children in back seat a sleep./ She said she
thought the creature was a male./ Other witness when asked said the sighting left her with a lot of trama./ Witness said
she never told anyone before because she felt she wouldn't be believed./ She said she was very scared at the sighting./
Her sighting came when she agreed to watch her sisters children who lived in Ft. Lauderdale. Witness lived in
Homestead Fl.with her two year old son and husband who was stationed there./ It was very late traveling south on Hwy
27 when she saw something come up out of the canal on the left side of her car./ It was a huge and hairy man who then
crossed the road in front of her car. She screamed and woke up the children in the back seat./ Before the hairy man
jumped into the canal on the other side of road he seemed to turn his whole body and looked straight at her./ She knew
she was seeing something she never seen before and never would forget.
VOLUSIA COUNTY-1974-75-/ It was about 1or 2Am. in a cow pasture next to swamp./Witness was camping with older
brother and his friends. The witness was left in camp alone while others paired off.He was staring at the fire when he
thought he saw his brothers friend walk by him about 30 feet or so heading for the swamp. He never did hear him
enter./ He called out to him but got no answer./ The friend was about 6 foot 3 inches tall and what he saw he said
seemed taller but staring into fire he thought his eyes where playing tricks on him./ Being alone for a couple of hours
the two couples finally returned to camp. He asked brothers friend why he didn't answer him when he called out./ The
friend said it wasn't him and asked where the figure went. Everyone went to sleep after that but the witness said sleep
alluded him for sometime as he wondered what it was he saw.
The same witness said that a friend in 1978-79 was horse back riding in the area and riding down the trail her horse
became nervous and she was thrown side ways that's when she saw the creature that stood on two legs,black hair
covered its body and it was huge and smelly./ She grabbed the horses mane and held on because she felt if she fell off
this thing would get her./ She was scared so badly that she now refuses to ride in the area.
HERNANDO COUNTY-A group of teenagers out after Halloween said they saw a large black figure watching them walk
across a dirt road for another house to trick-or-treat/ Teens claimed the creature flashed glowing red eyes at them from
behind a pine tree./ They ran to the safety of the nearest house. Ramona Clark Hibner reported this.
BROWARD COUNTY-Miramar,Fl. / Rookie Police Officer K.Dunn reported that he saw a Skunk Ape
crossing the road near town. / It was huge,hairy and was bipedal. / The creature was loping across
the road. / After investigating nothing was found.
LETTERS To Fish and Wild Life Files-(Also in1971) Archaeologist group in the Everglades were
looking for Pyramids. Mr. Buz Osburn was one of the group that was very interested in the Skunk
Ape.
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY-Florida Turnpike / Woman thought she hit a Skunk Ape./ She got out of her
car to come face to face with the creature. / She said it tried to communicate with her through
thought, it told her it was hungry.
Palm Beach County-A superintendent at a Gulf Course saw a Skunk Ape drinking from a pond. / He said that his light
shone right on it.
SARASOTA COUNTY-Venice,Fl. / Local Movie Producer seeing the success of "JAWS" planned to make a movie of the
Florida Skunk Ape. Film practically lost to history. (I'm not sure if this movie was ever made)
MIAMI -DADE COUNTY- Florida City,Fl. / Strange tacks were found at Homestead Fish Farm./ Witness Mr. A. Gooding
found five toed barefoot human tracks. / He notified authorities./ Tracks measured 12 by 6 inches.

MIAMI-DADE County-Black Point Gould Canal area, close to Miami./ Mr. Bennett and Mr.L.Groom drove up on a 8 foot
tall Skunk Ape creature shaking a blue chevy car. / A terrified man who was inside jumped out screaming for help./ The
creature seeing them turned and ran off into the mangroves. / There was a report made but when the authorities got to
the place of the incident there was no sign of the creature or the man and chevy car.
POLK COUNTY-Man spots a Skunk Ape carrying an arm load of corn as he drives down a dirt road./ The witness said
he hit the creature./ It was reported to the Sheriffs Department.
PASCO COUNTY-Dairy farmer Mr. R. Taylor saw a tall,hairy man like creature running through one of the milk sheds./ It
looked to have an injured arm. / It had shaggy black hair and smelled like a skunk.
PASCO COUNTY- Another report from diary farmer. This was about 22 miles south of Brooksville. / Witness said it had
amber eyes and that it made horrible screams as well as high pitch whistles.
SARASOTA COUNTY- Venise,Fl./ Mr. R. Stevens age 12 saw a tall black/brown creature./ It was about 6 feet tall and
was looking at his ducks./ Investigator found no signs of the intruder./ In another report it was said that tracks were
found.
SARASOTA COUNTY-Venise,Fl./ Construction workers saw a Skunk Ape staring at them while they worked pouring
concrete slab./ It was hairy and ape like./ When it realized the men saw it,it turned and ran off./ Men gave chase but only
caught a glimpse of it before it got completely away.
HERNANDO COUNTY-Brooksville,Fl./ Skunk Ape seen by Mrs. Morrison./ Claimed it was about 5 or 6 feet tall man
covered in hair./ It was eating oranges off of a tree./ It had incredible strength. / It broke off a 4 inch diameter branch./
She seen the creature before./ Death of chickens,cattle and also dogs blamed on creature./ Heard screams in the area.
POLK COUNTY- Woman claims she saw a Skunk ape running as fast as a horse./ It was very tall and had flowing hair
on its head and shoulders.
POLK COUNTY-Green Swamp,Fl./ A man in the area saw 15 inch bare foot prints near orange grove. /Investigators
were called to the scene.
SARASOTA COUNTY-Laural,Fl./ Two girls camping saw a hairy creature walking on two legs./ It appeared ape like./
They ran away.
SARASOTA COUNTY-Venise,Fl./ Witness walking on Havana Road near Blackburn Canal at night caught sight of an
ape like creature./ The animal turned an walked away

SARASOTA COUNTY-Venice,Fl./ Sheriffs Department received calls about two boys that were chased by a Skunk Ape./
The boys were riding bicycles when the creature came out of the woods.
HERNANDO COUNTY-Brooksville,Fl./ Mr.J. Hudson's step brother saw a tall,dark brown creature jump from bank on
Croom Road./ The creature was about 8 foot tall./ It disappeared in an orange grove.
HERNANDO COUNTY-Brooksville,Fl./ Church goers saw what they claimed was a Skunk Ape after leaving church on
their way home./ There were three people in the car traveling down Hwy.581 that claimed they saw a hairy man like
creature standing in a ditch.
HERNANDO COUNTY- Brooksville,Fl./ Woman motorist said she saw a Skunk Ape cross the road in front of her as she
traveled down Hwy. 41.
PALM BEACH COUNTY-West Palm Beach Fl./ Security guard shot a 7 foot tall, hairy creature that was hunched or had
no neck./ Mr.Gary Kanter. age 24,was guarding a construction site when seeing the creature yelled freeze but the
creature kept coming towards him./ He said what he saw made his hair stand on end./ He drew his gun and yelled for it
to stop./ It had a bad smell and made his eyes water.(reported also in 1974)NOTE-Go to follow up stories and stories in
the news.
PALM BEACH COUNTY-West Palm Beach,Fl./ Several children playing saw a terrible creature./ Investigators found
nothing.
BROWARD COUNTY- Hollywood,Fl./ Hwy 41 near Hollywood a trucker changing a tire had a Skunk Ape walk up on
him./ A State Trooper who investigated did find huge tracks.
LEE COUNTY-Cape Coral,Fl./ A 9 foot tall,very hairy creature was seen by Mr. M.R. Davis./ He shot at the creature but
said he couldn't shoot again and it got away./ He said it looked human.
HERNANDO COUNTY-Brooksville,Fl./ Two men claimed they were followed as they walked along Hwy.581 at 1 AM./
Something large was crashing through the woods./ They noticed a bad smell.
HERNANDO COUNTY- Brooksville,Fl./ Man mowing pasture saw an ape like hairy creature watching him from the edge
of the woods as the sun was going down.
HERNANDO COUNTY-Brooksville,Fl./ Woman saw Skunk Ape cross road in front of her on Hwy 41. This was listed
earlier but dates are different for sightings./ One said July and this one March 1975.
LEE COUNTY-Ft. Myers,Fl./ Three boys were chased they claim by a Skunk Ape./ They ran and told their mother Mrs. J.
M. / They claimed they saw it eating a bird./ It was about 4 or 5 foot tall./ It was covered with dark hair and had a terrible
smell.
OKEECHOBEE COUNTY-Lake Okeechobee,Fl./ Near Lake Okeechobee, motorist hit a Skunk Ape about 11:30 PM. /
Driver was coming over a bridge when a large creature that was man like, walked in front of car./ He tried to avoid hitting
it but couldn't./ It ran on two legs./ There was hair and it was sent to be analyzed./ Car fender and door was damaged.
DUVAL COUNTY-Jacksonville,Fl./ There were claims of sightings through the years around the area./ This one
happened on Nov.15th./ The creature was sighted when witness and friends were fishing./ He was retrieving his tackle
box from car when he saw a tall hairy creature as it ran off./ The distance to creature was about 75 yards./ When he
told his mother about what he saw she asked him did he remember a couple who came to their door back in earlier 70's,
that were in trouble?/ She said that is why they came to their door because they too claimed they saw the creature and
were very scared.(Witness lived in deep woods.)
BROWARD COUNTY-Everglades,Fl./ Witness was from Davie,Fl./ There were two witness who were horse back riding
when they stopped and watered their mounts./ Spotting movement 120 yards away near a hammock of trees for 2 or 3
minutes they watched a creature stroll the tree line and enter the hammock of trees./ Searching they never saw it again./
It was cinnamon color phase of black bear.The color of face was the color of deer skin./ The arms were long with hands
that reached to the knees./(This is listed also for 1976 Saw Grass area of Everglades.)
1975-75- Brookhaven,Mississippi Ledger on Feb 16,1977- Ralph and Paul Case reported to Ramona tracks found by
Blue Mill Road,west of Loyd Star: Boys found huge footprints extremely deep in the soil about 15 inches in length or
more. Later found more deep prints leading into heavily wooded area on Blue Mill Road./ Picture of the tracks in the
newspaper were huge 5 toes in a row,very wide bare foorprints./ There were other accounts of a huge hairy upright
walking creature,dark in color,naked, almost human seen by several residents in the Natchez area. Brookhaven and
Loyd Star is in Lincoln County.
