MONROE COUNTY-Everglades National Park,Fl.-1975-76/ This happened north of Key Largo. Witness was camping
with his parents, doing late night fishing./ They heard something in the thick underbrush and witness said he threw a
piece of coral at the bushes and shined a flashlight in the direction the sound was coming from. / What ever it was
started moving back and forth very agitated. His father said it was time to load up in the car and leave and they did so
as quickly as they possibly could.They were all very scared and knew this wasn't something they'd ever encountered
GEORGIA-Chatam County- Tybee Island./ Jan 2-3,1976/ The witness was on active duty and stationed at Hunter Army
Airfield./ With another Army buddy and both their wives they went camping on Little Tybee Island./ They had a nice
sheltered tent inland about two hundred yards off the beach behind the dunes./ Their first night out it was cold, high
teens./ Local forecast predicted record lows the next day and night./ The wives were cold and wanted to go in./ They
transported them back to Tybee and then returned for an afternoon hunt./ By 1600 hours it was too cold to stay out./
Their Lab.dog had ice coating on its fur coming out of the water./ They returned to camp, ate an early supper and
retired early./ At approximately 2200 hours He awakened to the lab growling softly./ Jim his buddy, who was also
awake asked "Robbie is your gun loaded?" The witness said that's when they heard a two legged creature walking
toward their tent./ He said that a deer and a man walk differently and besides at that time there weren't any deer or
hogs on the island though now there are./ The creature stopped about 30 or 40 feet from their tent./(The tent was set
in a little valley and wouldn't be visible to someone coming from the backside of the island until they were up on it.)
There was a minute or two of complete silence, even the dog was quiet, she acted scared for the first time that he
knew of./ There was a whooshing sound of something large whirling through the air, it struck the tent./ The dog went
nuts./ Both men came out of the tent in a hurry with there six volt headlights on and shotguns ready./ He caught a
glimpse of something very dark colored and man size running towards the back of the island./ There was an odor, a
cross between a fox and a civet cat./ They ran after it where it ran to the edge of the marsh./ There's nothing there
except miles of salt marsh, tidal rivers and creeks and dozens of smaller hammocks and small islands./ The marsh was
frozen solid./ They checked the boat landing on the island but there wasn't any boats./ They looked for prints and
other boats but there weren't any./ The buddy and he talked about the incident and decided that they must have had a
Skunk Ape encounter.
LOUISIANA-Webster Parish-Doylina,Louisiana/ Year 1976/ Summer/ Lake Bistinue near State Park Number 2./ It was
actually autumn in the evening when one of the witnesses neighbors called to let them know that something big was
headed towards the fathers shop./ The neighbor was coming home when he spotted a huge creature standing on his
porch./ The animal ran when he pulled into their driveway./ His wife was sitting inside the house with a gun trained on
the door./ She was scared to death, said that it was pulling on the screen door and she kept yelling for it to leave./ The
creature jumped a 6 foot fence./The father ran across the road towards his shop when he spotted a thick man like
creature run and leap the creek which was at least 10 feet wide./ The only sound he heard was a grunt when it landed
on the other side./ The father nor the neighbor would talk about it in later years./ There were neighbors who did report
numerous encounters with what they called the Boggy Creek Monster.
MONROE COUNTY-Everglades Swamp,Fl./2 Men saw a Skunk Ape standing in a clump of pine trees.
MONRIOE COUNTY-Everglades Swamp,Fl./ Mr. Spinks lived by himself for 6 monthsand studied the
creature./ He claimed he didn't see the creatures but he heard them./ He knew they watched him./ He said
he invited them in for coffee but the creatures didn't come./ Mr.Spinks had a tax-exempt non-profit
organization certified by the Eternal Revenue Service.
MONROE COUNTY-Everglades Swamp,Fl./ Mangrove Swamp area./ Mr.Spinks tells the Miami Hearld
Columnist about a close encounter with the Skunk Ape.
VOLUSA COUNTY- Port Orange,Fl./ Creature was seen on side of road./ It was picking up something and putting it in
the other./ It was 7 feet tall and about 400 to 500 lbs./ It had long reddish hair.
CHARLOTTE COUNTY- Grove City,Fl./ Youths claim to have 2 sightings./ Said creature growled at them./ It stood about
7 feet tall.
CHARLOTTE COUNTY- Grove City,Fl./ Youths again report creature this time saying that it had reddish hair.
CHARLOTTE COUNTY-Grove City,Fl./ Deputy Carl Williams saw a Skunk Ape around midnight when his car lights shone
on it.
MR.Spinks formed the Bigfoot Research Society/ Applied for $100,000. from the National Science Foundation: He
wanted to buy $21,000 camera eq. and a $28.00 harmonica to communicate with the creatures./They said no.
LEE COUNTY-Cape Coral,Fl. Sheriff Williams put light on an animal bent over pond,drinking or trying to fish,he wasn't
sure./ It loped away into the underbrush on two legs. Was built large but short four-five feet in height and short hair
covered all its body./ The creature hissed at Williams but seemed non- aggressive./ The following month,Tom
Drinkwater watched an ape like beast lope across a road in the same general area./ It was tall,hairy and smelled like it

1976-LEE COUNTY-North Fort Myers-June 6/ John Holley,age 43 ,his brother and their friend John Kersy were driving
on a dirt road(Rt 31) in the evening when all three saw a 6 foot tall ape in a clump of pines about 10 yards off the side of
the road,standing there,upright./ It had black hair./ Deputy Warren Vallier found tracks in the wet dirt 2-3 inches deep in
the soil crossing the ditch to the fence and then into thick brush./ Hair from barbed wire fence sent for study./ Holley saw
it walk away into the woods making giant strides (UPI and Ramona Hibner and John Green)Listed already.
1976-Lee County-Fort Myers,Florida./ Sept./ Children of MacDonald family saw a large Skunk Ape walking among the
trees from their vantage point on a high deck./ Also elderly people saw hairy apes on PINE ISLAND- and there were 5
toed human-like tracks found.
1976-SARASOTA COUNTY-Laural Florida./ Jan.17 / Two girls reported a large creature with hair from head to foot while
camping in a pasture. They said it had long dark hair that hung over its its face that had large shiny green eyes./ It was
hunched over and when it became aware it was being observed,ran away upright,"waddling"(Ramona Hibner) Already in

1976-HERNANDO COUNTY- near Brooksville,Florida / Summer/ Skunk Ape sighted by children in a drainage ditch at
dusk./ It was dark in color/ There were other sightings in July near Brooksville.-(Ramona Hibner)
1976-HERNANDO COUNTY-8 miles north Brooksville Florida./ April/ Woman near Lake Lindsay told June Petrus that
she saw a creature cross open pasture at the break of dawn/ It had long hair on its head down to its shoulders; It was
dark brown and walked like big,heavy men when in a hurry./ It went into the woods by hwy 476.(Hibner) Possibly already
in data base under different date/year.
1976-HERNANDO COUNTY-Brooksville,Florida/ Mrs. Joyce Hudson's stepbrother saw a creature jump up a bank on
Croom Road and run into an orange grove./ The smell was terrible,like rotting flesh./ It was 8 feet tall,dark brown in
color,moving upright like a man; Hair on head quite long and heavily built.(Hibner)
1976- HERNANDO COUNTY- F June25./ Various witnesses and campers came forward to report to Ramona Hibner that
at Silver Lake entrance to Withlacoochee River Canoe Trail in Croom Wildlife Reserve,in the off-road trail area they saw
an 8 foot tall,black haired,upright walking creature that smelled like a dead animal./ It growled,and it screamed and then
ran off into the woods,this was at dusk./ It came from the direction of the river and looked wet./ This incident occurred 17
miles west of Brooksville.
1976-CHARLOTTE COUNTY-Grove City,Florida/ FORT MYERS PRESS NEWSPAPER dated June 19,1976 reported
two teenagers watched a skunk Ape in a marshy area near GROVE CITY in western part of county.(Hibner) This is on
sighting data base.
1976-CITRUS COUNTY-Dunellon,Florida/ Donald Duncan told Ramona he and his 5 year old son saw a Skunk Ape in
or near trees in their yard at 3 AM that night heard dogs commotion; went out onto their porch and saw creature rolling
in the sand outside the gate with three mongrel dogs./ Duncan fired a round in their direction with his .22 which caused
the dogs to take off and the creature to stand up./ He saw it from 30 feet away,said it had reddish brown hair,was about
7-8 feet tall,black skin and red eyes ,weighing about 450 Lbs./ Duncan said it was graceful, shot at it twice causing it to
"Howl like a wolf"./ Duncan was available to take lie detector test; he found puppy with broken neck,his colt injured and
saw tracks,one foot seemed broken,had four toes and the other track had three toes.(Ramona Hibner)
1976-CITRUS COUNTY- Dunellon Florida/ A number of informants told Ramona Hibner that an elderly man with 40
acres claims a tall Skunk Ape has been there for the past 5 years and recently started coming up to the house./ There
were three-toed tracks found,probably gator./ A 14 year old girl saw it./ Several other men shot at the thing with their
22's, No other details. (Hibner)
1976-VOLSIA COUNTY, Port Orange,Florida /July/ Witness reported an eye to eye sighting with a hair- covered
creature that occured at approximately 2AM while driving on Taylor Road./ Just south of Daytona Beach/ At the time
area was very rural and Taylor Road was only two lanes;Its 6 lanes today/ Witness Martha Cowell said the creature
realized we were closely approaching it lifted its head and looked angry and frightened. looked more quizzical then any
thing else./ It didn't atempt to move,walk or run away./ Estimated it to stand 7-71/2 feet tall,weighing about 500
pounds,although all its hair may have made it look heavier then it was./ It was covered with long,somewhat wavy and
matted,irish -setter red-colored hair./ The hair on its chest wasn't as thick and as long as on the rest of its body./ Hair
covered the face,but the hair on the face was short like a sheep dog.(Hibner) Already in sighting data base.
LOUISIANA- Leesburg,/ Area of sighting-Hicks Parish./ Oct. 31,1976 / Weather ,cool and wet./ Visibility-Misty./
Walking in the deep swampy Louisiana woods the witness was looking for signs of animal life when he
smelled something horrid that turned his stomach./ Thinking it was someone hurt or worse he followed the
smell as it got stronger./ He came upon a wet marsh where he saw a huge figure./ He thought at first it was a
man in some kind of strange camouflage./ Getting closer he realized it wasn't a man,he thought it must be a
bear but didn't think there were any bears in the area that size because it was really big./ It was walking up
right slowly on two legs./ Trying to be quiet he accidentally stepped on some twigs and the creature turned
and looked right at him./ Never seeing an animal like this the witness said he was scared so bad he started
to cry, he just knew he was dead as the creature ran towards him./ It came within 15 feet then just stopped./
It was growling and shaking its fist and arms./ It had a very stern hateful face./ It continued to growl,the
witness was froze in his tracks then all of a sudden it turned and fled deep into the woods growling and
screaming the whole time./ It was covered in brown, Matty hair and stood about 7 feet tall./ It acted very
angry./ The sighting lasted 4 or 5 minutes.
After emailing witness he said the face which he saw very well looked angry and had a human- chimpanzee
look./ It displayed human emotions as there was no doubt as to the anger and it terrified him./ He only told
his grandmother what he saw and she said she believed him but that he must not tell any one else./ He said
he didn't know if it was male or female but it had a chest like a football player./ He saw skin that looked
darkish brown./ Witness never returned to the area./ The witness said he'd never forget the anger it
showed and he didn't understand why it didn't attack him./ Growing up in the area around loggers and wild
life workers he heard stories that others had seen something strange before his encounter and after.
