SIGHTINGS 2001
MONROE COUNTY- Chokoloskee,Fl./ Several men went camping in the Everglades National Park./ They
camped in what is known as "Watson Place". There were about 6 or 7 men, I'm not sure about how many,
all but two went out fishing in their boat./ The other two stayed in camp one decided to turn in and the
"Witness" went to fish off the pier./ He finally got tired and decided to turn in himself./As soon as the
lights went out he heard a scream that lifted his hair./ Strangely the other camper slept on./ The witness
said he turned the lanterns back on and went to see what had made the noise./ He didn't see a thing,
about this time the men were returning to camp from fishing in boat./ He waited and asked them if they
heard or saw anything./ No one had./ He said he remembered the Ranger there saying when they first
entered the Park that there had been complaints from other campers, they said that someone had been
messing around their camps./ The witness said he wasn't new to the woods and he could identify most of
the sounds you hear. He wasn't sure what it was, but it wasn't human
The SKUNK APE Becomes Floridas Bigfoot- Sightings range all over the state./ Mr. Loren Coleman, who's a part time
proffessor at the University of Southern Maine, claims he saw a Skunk Ape east of Interstate 75 close to Myakka River
State Park./ Reported in the Naples Daily News and the Florida Fish and Wild Game Commission Files.

HERNANDO COUNTY-Oct14th/ Hillsborough River State Park./ Outside of Tampa/ Witness saw creature standing by
the River with one hand in the water.Witness said he was freaked out and didn't notice much else. Did say it smelt like
cat litter and was brown in color.
Reported2009-2001-HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY- Hillsborough River State Park-Jan./ The witness said that his family
had come to stay in the camp grounds because his father was working down here in Florida and they had just bought a
camper so they decided to stay in it instead of renting a room or house. Taking his bike out around 2 Pm. in the
afternoon, he stopped to look over the embankment where he'd seen some alligators earlier while canoing. He heard a
rustle behind him in the trees and thinking it was a gator he turned to look and saw a creature not more then 5 feet from
him standing watching him. It was tall, dark brown and hairy. He thought his eyes were playing tricks on him at first and
looked harder that's when it ran away on two feet like a person. Mother and sister said he saw a black bear but he
knows what he saw was something else entirely. Witness said it was about 71/2 feet tall. It had broad shoulders and was
muscular. Its hair was matted. he said it was definitely hair not fur.The face was real dark.
2001-LEON COUNTY- Dec.- New Years Eve. Two cousins observe creature watching them.
SANTA ROSA COUNTY-Milton Florida- 01-20-2001/ Very wooded area./ This started about 8:30 Pm. and lasted until
11Pm./ Witness was visiting a friend and his wife/ It was getting very cold, high 20's,and the friend was outside cutting
wood./ The Friend came in and asked his wife and witness to come outside and listen to the weird noise"Growl,scream"
sound. / It was on again and off again for hours./ Witness said he never heard anything like it before. He had goose
bumps all over and made the hair on his head stand on end./ He said he freaked out./ Dogs wouldn't go into the woods.
They'd go about 15 yards and not any further./ The swamp was dried up because of the drought./ The next morning
they took the dogs and went to look for signs. Coming to an old water oak laying on the ground the dogs started
whimpering and their hair stood up./ There wasn't any smell, nor footprints. The ground was packed hard with lots of
leaf cover. Witness said that he was keeping in touch with his friend but nothing else has happened.
